Voluntary Car Service

Do you enjoy driving and like to help people? If so, the Ambulance Service needs you - and your wheels!

If you are a car owner* and have a few hours to spare each week and like to help and meet new people, you could make a valuable contribution to the community and help ease the pressure on the ambulance service.

Most trips are done between 8am and 6pm weekdays, but drivers are sometimes needed for weekend calls.  Fuel costs and some additional expenses are refunded, and all volunteers are given training and kept in touch through regular meetings.

North West Ambulance Service moves patients in Cumbria, Lancashire, Cheshire and Merseyside and currently has over 300 volunteer drivers working across these areas.  If you feel that you are able to offer your services and would like further information, please get in touch with one of the following representatives:

Cumbria and Lancashire areas: Bob Bolton, Ambulance Car Service Administrator, Tel: 01772 773071 email: bob.bolton@nwas.nhs.uk.

Cheshire and Merseyside areas: Steven Hockenhull, PTS Delivery Manager, Tel: 01204 498350, email: steven.hockenhull@nwas.nhs.uk.

*You must have no more than 6 penalty points on your driving license and be able to prove that your car is fully taxed and insured and you have an up-to-date MOT.
