Voluntary Car Service Do you enjoy driving and like to help people? If so, the Ambulance Service needs you - and your wheels! If you are a car owner* and have a few hours to spare each week and would like to help and meet new people, you could make a valuable contribution to the community and help ease the pressure on the ambulance service. Most trips are done between 8am and 6pm weekdays, but drivers are sometimes needed for weekend calls. Fuel costs and some additional expenses are refunded, and all volunteers are given training and kept in touch through regular meetings. North West Ambulance Service moves patients in Cumbria, Lancashire, Greater Manchester and Merseyside and currently has over 250 volunteer drivers working across these areas.
