AGM & Open Day 2012
Each year the Trust holds its Annual General
Meeting & Open Day within the North West.
NWAS will demonstrate just how skilled its workforce is as it
prepares to showcase its work to members of the public in Greater
Manchester and we would like you to come along!
On Thursday 20 September, NWAS will celebrate the Trust's Annual
General Meeting and Open Day, which will take place at Ladybridge
Hall, our Regional Headquarters in Bolton. The day will begin with
the Trust's AGM at 1pm, followed by the Open Event, which will
begin at 2pm and finish at 4.15pm.
The Open Day event, which is a free event open to members of the
public, will include a range of information stands about the
various emergency and community based schemes the Trust is leading
on across the region, as well as interactive displays including a
reconstruction of a patient experiencing a heart attack.
We will also be taking the opportunity at the event to share our
learning from the Trust's 2011/2012 Patient Experience Programme
and to launch a new Patient Experience Toolkit, designed to assist
our partners and others in the delivery of patient experience work
and improve the services we provide to patients and the public.
You will get the opportunity to take part in some interactive
sessions which demonstrate some of the approaches used by the Trust
including playing the Trust's Patient Experience board game. We
will also be showing you some short patient video clips in which we
filmed actors portraying the experiences of real patients.
On the day, the Trust will also be showcasing some of its
hi-tech vehicles at the event as well as giving equipment
demonstrations and promoting the work of the wider NHS.
Members of the Trust's Community Resuscitation team and local
Community First Responders (CFRs) will be present to talk through
with guests what happens in a real life emergency situation from
the arrival of a CFR to the arrival of the paramedic crew.
If you have ever wanted to find out more about NWAS or are
interested in getting more involved with the work it does by having
a greater say, there will also be the opportunity to become a
member of the Trust and have the chance to have your voice
heard.
A key aim of the event is not only to raise awareness of what
NWAS does as an NHS trust but also how the organisation works in
partnership with other emergency services and healthcare
professionals to deliver vital services to the local community and
across the whole of the North West. Other emergency and NHS
partners will be present on the day which is guaranteed to be an
action packed, fun and educational event.
Mary Whyham, Chairman of NWAS said: "We are delighted to be
hosting this event in our HQ in Bolton. We as a Trust recognise the
hard work the people who live and work in Greater Manchester, our
staff, volunteers and our emergency partners have put into the area
to help the community.
"We are holding the Open Day to celebrate and share the exciting
work we are undertaking with members of the public, our
stakeholders and partners. This has culminated in our improved
understanding of our patients' experiences and the production of a
brand new patient experience toolkit. We wish to invite you to come
and be a part of the day, meet your local ambulance service staff,
share your views and of course enjoy the displays and
demonstrations."
