Data Protection
North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust is under an obligation to process data in accordance with the Data Protection Act of 1998. Everyone working for the NHS has a legal duty to keep information confidential.
The information is used to guide and administer care patient’s receive while in our care. The Trust may need to share data with other organisations i.e. Hospitals.
At times or whenever possible, only anonymous information will be provided to protect the patient’s identity.
Where this is not possible, only person identifiable information will be used for essential NHS purposes.
This may include research and audit services. This will only be done with consent from the patient first.
This Trust will not disclose any information to third parties with out the permission/consent of the patient unless however there are exceptional circumstances, such as:
A requirement of law
when the health or safety of others is at risk i.e. staff /public
Anyone who receives any information from the Trust is also under a legal duty to keep it confidential.
