They will also be on hand to answer any questions visitors may have about the ambulance service, such as when to call 999 and 111 and letting everyone know about all the different roles they play in the service. For any budding paramedics there will be lots of information for them to find out about all the exciting current career opportunities within NWAS and take the opportunity to talk to NWAS staff. Visitors can also get details on how they can get more involved with the Trust by signing up to be a member or learning about current volunteer opportunities, such as becoming a Community First Responder (CFR). The day will start with the Annual General Meeting at 1.15pm and will include briefings from the Trust’s Board on NWAS performance and outline the organisation’s proposed future plans. There will also be a chance for visitors to ask any questions they may have. This will be followed by the Health Fair, which will take place from 2.30pm - 4.30pm and includes information stands from emergency service partners, other health organisations and all of NWAS’ services such as 111, and the non-emergency patient transport service ‘Go PTS' team. Wyn Dignan, Chairman of NWAS, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be bringing our event to Cumbria this year and we would like to invite you to come and be a part of the day, share your views and enjoy the displays and demonstrations. “The Health Fair is the perfect way to recognise and celebrate the outstanding efforts of all our staff, volunteers and emergency partners for the work they do every day to help the people of Cumbria. It also allows us to talk to and gain an understanding of our patients’ experiences so that we can learn how best to serve them.” One of the main aspects of the event is to raise awareness of the Trust and its initiatives across Cumbria and the North West. So, if you want to know more about what NWAS or are interested in getting involved then why not come down and say hello.
