09 September 2016 - Meet The Stars Of Your Ambulance Service North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) will be at the Select Security Stadium, home of the Widnes Vikings, on Thursday 15 September for its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Health Fair. It will be a packed fun-filled afternoon for all the family as the Trust will be showcasing the important work it does within the community. An emergency vehicle display will be there for everyone to explore and discover the incredible work the Trust does 24 hours a day. If you have ever wanted to know more about your ambulance service, this is your opportunity as the stars of the current Channel 4 programme ‘999, What’s Your Emergency’ will be there to meet you and explain more about responding to the thousands of emergency 999 calls the Service receives every day. To add a bit of extra drama, emergency crews will be performing a live extrication demonstration alongside the police and fire services and there will be an opportunity for everyone to learn how they to become a lifesaver. The day will start with the AGM from 1.15 – 2.15pm that will include briefings from the Trust’s Board on the organisation’s performance and outline its proposed future plans, with a chance for visitors to ask any questions they may have. This will be followed at 2.30pm by the Health Fair which will feature the Trust’s other services such as our non-emergency patient transport service the ‘Go PTS Team’ and NHS 111. You can find out how to get involved by becoming a volunteer Community First Responder or Volunteer Car Driver. There will lots more going on with health check demonstrations to take part in and information stands from emergency service partners and other health organisations. The Trust’s mascots, Pandamedic and Patsy, will be available for any selfie requests. Wyn Dignan, Chairman of NWAS, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be bringing this free event to Cheshire and we would like to invite you to come and be a part of the day, share your views and enjoy the displays and demonstrations. “The Health Fair is the perfect way to recognise and celebrate the outstanding efforts of all our staff, volunteers and emergency partners for the work they do every day. It also allows us to talk to and gain an understanding of our patients’ experiences so that we can learn how best to serve them.” So don’t miss out and come and join in the fun at the Select Security Stadium, Lower House Lane, Widnes, WA8 7DZ.
