16 March 2018 - Lancashire paramedic takes over TeamNWAS

Mikey Foster

A paramedic from East Lancashire is taking control of @TeamNWAS; an Instagram account run entirely by different faces from the frontline of North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust.

Mikey Foster is a Senior Paramedic and self-confessed coffee addict!  He lives with his wife who is also a paramedic, their son and dog Koby.

Talking about what people will see him share on the @TeamNWAS account, Mikey said: “A typical week could involve working with one of my team as a crew on an ambulance or remotely on a rapid response vehicle; ready to respond to high category incidents. It could also involve being based in the control centre providing remote clinical support and decision making to clinicians caring for patients at scene.

“I have to be flexible in the role and ready to adapt to service demands. I enjoy the versatile nature of the role and keeping close contact with my team of paramedics and emergency medical technicians - I’m proud to work with them and feel humbled by the care they deliver.”

@TeamNWAS is the only UK ambulance service Instagram account run entirely by the workforce. Each week somebody different takes control of the account, giving followers a behind the scenes peek into what life as an ambulance service worker is all about.

NWAS employs almost 6,000 staff in over 300 different roles across the region. From paramedics, dispatchers and ambulance care assistants to 111 health advisors and urgent care practitioners – everyone contributes in one way or another to saving lives every single day and this is what the service hopes to share with the public.
