Innovation in leadership

Improvement expert Maxine Power has joined North West Ambulance Service as Director of Quality, Improvement & Innovation.

The former Chief Executive Officer of Haelo has joined our team this month after more than four years at the innovation and improvement science centre.

Maxine was instrumental in developing and leading Haelo since trading began in April 2013. Haelo has a reputation for delivering high quality improvement support within Salford and Greater Manchester and also has reach nationally and internationally in the fields of innovation and improvement science.

Maxine said: “It’s remarkable what we have achieved together in such a short time and I am staggered at the talent we have (at Haelo)… My decision to leave Haelo was one of the most difficult of my career but is made easier when I look at how resilient the organisation has become.

“In my new role at NWAS I have responsibility for supporting the organisation’s ambitions to improve safety and quality, testing innovative solutions to some of the most challenging problems and building a resilient quality improvement infrastructure to support frontline teams.

“I look forward to working with colleagues across the North West of England to improve the urgent and emergency response for people when they need us most.

“My work will build on existing improvement programmes in localities and will be important in re-framing the work of the ambulance service in the new system”.
