Sign Up to Safety

Sign up for Safety

As part of the Trust’s aim to be the safest ambulance service in the country, we’ve signed up to the national ‘sign up to safety’ campaign launched by Secretary of State for Health, Jeremy Hunt.

The vision of the campaign is for the whole of the NHS to become the safest healthcare system in the world, aiming to deliver harm free care for every patient, every time.

The sign up to safety campaign has the ambition of halving avoidable harm in the NHS over the next three years and saving 6,000 lives as a result.

Three key words to the sign up to safety campaign are ‘listen’, ‘learn’ and ‘act’.  This means listening to patients, carers and staff, learning from what they say when things go wrong and taking appropriate action to improve patient safety.

We’re currently working on our sign up to safety plan, which will be built around five core areas:

  • Put safety first
  • Continually learn
  • Honesty
  • Collaborate
  • Support.

This is an extremely important commitment and one that will not be taken lightly as we continue with our aim of becoming the safest ambulance service in the country.
