East Lancashire Falls Liaison Project Wins Prestigious National Award

The innovative Falls Response Car operating within East Lancashire (including Blackburn with Darwen), has won a national award at the National Occupational Therapy Show which was held in November 2015.

Gail Smith, Paramedic and Occupational Therapists, Sue Tracey and Rachel Bedwell have won the ‘Outstanding Occupational Therapist (OT) Innovation’ award, sponsored by the professional publication OT News.

The award recognises the work of the team in improving responses to elderly people who have fallen in their own homes, to reduce hospital admissions and to promote independence and safety in the home. The team were nominated by a senior manager from ELHT, Freya Sledding. There was a monetary prize of £250 which will be going towards continued professional development for the team.
