We are very pleased to report that for the second year running, NWAS has exceeded the national Government targets for ambulance response times for both Category A8 and A19. The Trust is commissioned to regionally attend 75% of Category A8 (the most serious life-threatening calls) within 8 minutes of the 999 call, the Trust's performance at the end of 2012/13 was 76.4%. Category A19 requires an emergency response within 19 minutes for 95% of incidents and the Trust achieved 95.1% regionally.  This has been achieved despite a 5% increase in the number of 999 calls received - 1,170,154 compared to 1,113,398 the previous year.
