Performance

We received 309,520 emergency calls in the period 1 September to 30 November 2016 and our performance was as follows:

RED 1 8 minute response – 65.42% (against a 75% target)

RED 2 8 minute response – 61.72% (against a 75% target)

Red 1 and Red 2 in 19min - 88% (against a 95% target)

Green 1 (20 minute) – 54.81%

Green 2 (30 minute) – 58.72%

The Trust continues to be challenged in dealing with the general 999 demand. Year-to-date the Trust recorded an increase of more than 4% in 999 demand, with increases in excess of 9% recorded for high acuity patients. Operational performance, although maintaining a strong position when benchmarked across the ambulance sector, has fallen below the required standard.

The Service is appealing to the public to 'make the right call' when considering options for healthcare. 999 should be used in life-threatening situations only.
