Managing Clinical Conditions
In a life threatening emergency, the actions taken during the
first few minutes, by those at the scene of the incident, can make
a significant difference to the outcome of the patient.
In this section, you will find out how you can help a patient
suffering from one of the most extreme emergencies: heart attack,
stroke and traumatic
injury.
Our aim, in these situations, is to get to patients as quickly
as we can to provide treatment and then to transport the patient to
the most appropriate place for further care.
For heart attack, stroke and trauma patients, the most
appropriate place for treatment is not necessarily the nearest
Emergency Department. Many specialist centres now exist where care
for specific conditions is provided by expert teams.
