Transient ischaemic attack

The symptoms of a transient ischaemic attack (TIA) are the same as for a stroke. However, they only last for a few minutes to a few hours - and then stop or resolve.  This is known as a ministroke (TIA).

If you have a ministroke (TIA):

  • The treatment you receive is similar to the treatment for a stroke
  • This could be a serious warning that there is a problem with the blood supply to your brain - it should not be ignored, medical assistance should be sought
