Patient and Public Panel

Would you be interested in joining our Patient and Public Panel?  We would like to invite you on this journey with us, where you can have your say on North West Ambulance Service and help us to understand what matters to you most.

The aim of the Patient and Public Panel is to work with North West Ambulance Service so we can ensure that the highest quality of care is provided to our patients, their relatives and carers. We are looking for people to join our panel who can share their views and experiences to help make improvements to the services that we provide. Whilst you don’t need to have used the service to be a member of our panel, we know that our patients with lived experience could offer us a unique perspective as members.

Levels of involvement

There are a number of ways you can get involved with our Patient and Public Panel:

  • Influence - You will be supported to attend meetings within the trust such as board and committee meetings and your views will help to influence decision making and discussions on a variety of different subjects. This role will require regular time commitment such as reading agendas and supporting materials ahead of scheduled meetings and availability to attend meetings at a trust location.
  • Co-produce – Our co-production panel will work together on projects with us to help make service improvements within the trust.  As part of the co-production panel, you might be asked to get involved in focus groups on topics such as vehicle design, how we communicate with the public or new models of providing patient care.  This role will require occasional commitment and travel to a trust or community based location.
  • Consult – Our consult panel will be our virtual panel. You will be asked to contribute to our panel online which can be flexible to fit in with other commitments you may have such as work and family life. Examples of work that we may ask you to participate include completing surveys or providing feedback on leaflets or publications via email or online. This can all be done as and when you are able to, but we will give you a time frame to complete it in.

You can be a panel member if:

  • You are 16 years or older.
  • You are NOT a current employee of NWAS (but our volunteers are welcome).
  • You live in Cumbria, Cheshire, Lancashire, Merseyside or Greater Manchester.
  • You can empathise with and reflect a range of different perspectives when sharing opinions.

We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, beliefs, cultures and circumstances to ensure the panel is representative of all of our communities served by North West Ambulance Service.
