David is currently a lecturer in strategic management at the University of Central Lancashire. He has previously spent 25 years working in Adult Social Care with his last role being Director of Operations for Trafford Council. Part of his remit was developing partnership working with health services, as well as leading on adult safeguarding. David started his career in the NHS, training and working as a psychiatric nurse in North Manchester.
David has also spent five years chairing the Bury Adult Safeguarding Adults Board, and has also been a chair of governors at his local primary school. He is now a trustee of the Christadelphian Care Homes, as well chair of his local scout group.

Dr David Hanley has been appointed from 28 May 2019 until 27 May 2021 and is entitled to receive a remuneration of £6,157 per annum. He has declared no political activity in the last five years.
