The Health Business Awards is been staged annually since 2010 in order to recognise the many examples of innovation and excellence that happen every day in the NHS.
The Ambulance service of the Year Award goes to the trust that has embraced change and demonstrated a decrease in response times, the ability to provide treatment at the scene of an accident, and the provision of outpatient services.
This nomination relates to the East Lancashire Falls Response Service Team, the collaboration of a Paramedic and an Occupational Therapist who respond to non-life threatening 999 calls for falls, so that patients can be treated at home without having to go to hospital or can be referred to an appropriate community service.
NWAS Chief Executive Daren Mochrie said, “We are so proud of our falls team in Burnley, and this nomination is testament to the fabulous work they do.
“After a recent nomination in the NHS Parliamentary Awards, it’s more evidence that this is a programme that works both for patients and for the NHS as a whole, saving money and resources while keeping patients at home, where it is better for them.
“Last year we were highly commended in this category and I hope this year we can achieve one-step higher.”
This year’s Health Business Awards ceremony will take place live online on the 10th December and is hosted by GP and TV presenter Dr. Hilary Jones.
