Working with members of our North West communities, our Patient Engagement Team established our PPP in 2019 to ensure patient and public involvement is at the heart of everything we do.
It has grown in strength and has over 200 active members who help to bring to life our quality improvement (QI) programmes through their lived experience. This work is serving to advocate our patient’s voices when designing, delivering and improving our services.
Head of Communications and Patient Engagement Julie Treharne said: “Our panel members have contributed their invaluable input into multiple projects and initiatives including a ‘Right Care at Home’ scheme. This involved them working with our staff help ensure patients who don’t need to go to hospital for emergency treatment receive the right care closer to home.
“They shared their experiences in written case studies which were included in a national NHS hospital handover training module about the difference care in the community had for them and their family.
“This has enhanced our staff learning and empowered us, and other trusts, to improve how we deliver effective QI programmes and improve ambulance care.”
