Launched on 20 July, the One Tonne Plastic Challenge, set by recycling champion Thomas from Cheshire, encourages colleagues to spend time outdoors collecting discarded plastic from local areas, helping to protect the environment while supporting healthier, cleaner communities.

Throughout the campaign, colleagues from across the trust will take part in organised litter picks and individual activities in their own time, collecting plastic from parks, streets, beaches and other public spaces before recycling it wherever possible.

We’re also grateful for the support of SUEZ, whose partnership is helping us deliver the challenge and work towards our one tonne target.

The challenge forms part of our wider commitment to sustainability, encouraging colleagues to make a positive difference in the communities they serve while helping to reduce our environmental impact.

As colleagues log the plastic they collect, every contribution will bring the trust one step closer to its goal of reaching one tonne. Together, their efforts will help protect local environments and show how small actions can make a big difference.
