Sometimes you might need help for an illness or injury when it isn’t an emergency. If you, or someone you’re with, has hurt themselves or is feeling poorly, our NHS 111 service can help you find out what to do next.
All you need to do is call 111 on your phone and you’ll speak to someone who can help you. They’ll ask you lots of questions to find out what is wrong – remember to listen carefully and answer them as best you can.
The person you’re speaking to on the phone will tell you what to do next:
- They might ask you to wait by the phone for someone to call you back.
- If you’re with someone who can take you, they might suggest you visit a doctor, pharmacist, nurse, dentist or even go to hospital.
- If they think it is an emergency, they might arrange for an ambulance to come and help you.
If you have access to the internet, you can get help from 111 online – 111.nhs.uk.
