three women running around a park

This joyful and empowering event is a celebration, that brings the community together in solidarity.

Back in the 1980s, running was a predominantly male activity, with most sign-ups for the UK’s two biggest races, the London Marathon and the Great North Run, being men. To encourage more women to take part, cities such as Glasgow and Dublin found success with women-only races. Not wanting to be left behind, Liverpool established its own.

As a result, more and more women took to Sefton Park to participate in the Women’s 5K and 10K. Today, while the running landscape has evolved and female participation has grown significantly, this event remains a powerful celebration of the women of Liverpool and their determination.

We invite you, whatever your level, to take on the 5K or 10K to show your solidarity and raise vital funds for North West Ambulance Charity.

The 5K will be a great opportunity for those new to running to take part in an organised event for the first time and will be supported with a very helpful Couch To 5K plan. If you are wanting to start running from scratch to the start line in just nine weeks, this will be perfect for you. The 10K race offers a more demanding course, ideal for those looking for a challenge!

Once you’re signed up with us, we’ll send you an allocation code to redeem your place directly through the organisers, BTR Running Events.

Please note: There is an age limit of 11 years on race day for the 5K and 15 years on race day for the theses runs and consent from a parent or guardian will be required for participants under 18.
