As a senior clinical advisor you will use your clinical judgement to provide advice or signpost patients to appropriate care. You will be responsible for the telephone and video assessment of callers with a wide spectrum of clinical conditions ensuring they get the right care, at the right time, in the right place; every time.
NHS 111 senior clinical advisors are not only responsible for the telephone assessment of patients using the NHS 111 service, but also for the supervision, teaching precepting and mentoring of other staff including students, clinicians and NHS 111 health advisors.
As an NHS 111 senior clinical advisor, you will share and utilise areas of your expertise to enhance the development of your colleagues so that all patients receive the very best care. You will use your specialist skills to assess and deliver care to patients in a contact centre, providing health information, guidance on the appropriate level of care and advice on how to manage symptoms at home.
You will have the ability to problem-solve, adapt and respond to changing situations and the skills needed to motivate and support your colleagues.
You will need to be either a registered nurse or paramedic with a minimum of three years post-registration clinical experience in a primary or acute care setting, emergency department or pre-hospital role.
Full training for the role will be given, which is full-time for between four to ten weeks.
