On this day 20 years ago, four regional ambulance services came together to form North West Ambulance Service. Since then, NWAS has grown, evolved, and adapted in countless ways, but our purpose has remained the same: to help people when they need us most.

The past two decades have brought significant change, challenge, and progress. Many of our staff and volunteers have joined us along the way, and some have been part of the journey from the very beginning. Whatever their role, and whenever they joined, they have each contributed to shaping NWAS into the organisation it is today.

As we reflect on our history, we’ve talked between us of moments that have defined us. The achievements we are proud of, the challenges we have faced, and the memories that have stayed with us, both uplifting and difficult. Through it all, one constant stands out: our people.

So as we celebrate 20 years of NWAS, we are not only marking the story of our organisation, we are celebrating every one of you who has helped write it.
