She won the Caring in the Community Award at a ceremony at the Greenhill Hotel in Wigton last week. Hosted by Newsquest Cumbria, the awards are an annual event celebrating all the best of Cumbria’s spirit and pride.
She was nominated by several of her colleagues for her work in delivering basic life-saving training to thousands of people across the county, installing dozens of brand-new community defibrillators in previously underserved locations, and supporting fundraising efforts to purchase them, as well as reinstating hundreds of community defibrillators that had fallen out of use.
Megan said, “I’m extremely overwhelmed to win. However, it’s not just me, it’s every community, every person that helps with projects and the amazing support of the North West Ambulance Charity, who have helped me win.”
North West Ambulance Charity is funding Megan’s position and two other CREO roles in the North West, with the aim of helping to save more lives in the community. The funding comes as a result of a grant from NHS Charities Together.
