At just 19 years old, Jasmine has been recognised for her dedication, professionalism, and passion for helping others, earning her this prestigious accolade that highlights outstanding contributions to the community.
Jasmine first contacted us at the age of 15, expressing a strong desire to work for the service one day. Although she was too young to begin training at the time, her determination never wavered. Two years later, while studying at college, she joined our Ambulance Cadet Programme—an initiative run by our Widening Access Team in partnership with local colleges to support and develop the next generation of ambulance professionals.
Now, two years into her cadet journey, Jasmine is flourishing. Widening Access Coordinator Abbey Sullivan, who looks after the Cadet Programme, says, “This is an incredibly proud moment not just for Jasmine, but for NWAS. Jasmine has shown exceptional commitment and a genuine passion for patient care since she first contacted us. To be chosen by the High Sheriff is a tremendous honour and a reflection of the kind of future she has ahead of her. We couldn’t be happier seeing her hard work recognised this way.”
Our Ambulance Cadet Programme offers students real-life experience in our Patient Transport Service and Paramedic Emergency Service through one day a week placement. The programme includes one-to-one mentorship, end-of-placement evaluations, and tailored support to prepare cadets for further roles, including a guaranteed interview scheme for roles within the ambulance service if they choose to apply.
In her new and additional role, Jasmine will support the High Sheriff at formal events, representing NWAS with pride and professionalism across Lancashire. It also shines a spotlight on the valuable work of ambulance cadets and the importance of nurturing young talent within the NHS.
Congratulations, Jasmine – we’re incredibly proud of you!
