The Healthy Hearts, Healthy Minds event, held on Thursday 3 September, brought together healthcare professionals, community organisations and local residents for an evening focused on health and wellbeing.
People attending could take part in mini health checks, speak to health organisations and hear from experts about preventing heart disease, making healthy lifestyle choices, staying active, recognising the signs of a stroke or heart attack, and looking after their mental health.
A highlight of the evening was an interactive CPR session led by Clinical Education Practitioner Jo Thwaites and Def Support Officer Evie Thwaites-Rimmer from our Community Resuscitation Team. More than 40 people took part, helping them build their confidence in knowing what to do if someone suffers a cardiac arrest.
We also introduced our new CPR Card, a simple guide designed to help people know what to do in an emergency. Copies were given to attendees, and our Patient Engagement Team will collect feedback from the community to help improve the resource.
Shaf Rahim, Patient Inclusion Manager, said:
“It was fantastic to see so many people getting involved in the CPR session and taking the time to learn more about their health.
“Knowing how to perform CPR can make a real difference in an emergency, so it was great to see people building their confidence and learning a skill that could help save a life.
“Events like this are a great way for us to work directly with communities and make sure people have access to health information and lifesaving skills. We’re grateful to everyone who came along and look forward to hearing their feedback on our new CPR Card.”
The event is part of our ongoing work to improve health and wellbeing, reduce health inequalities and build stronger relationships with communities across the North West.
