We wanted to congratulate and highlight the efforts of Community First Responder (CFR) John Clucas, who was presented with a town award by Clitheroe Town Council last month.
John, a member of the Ribble Valley CFR team, has made an exceptional contribution to his community over the past four years. He has volunteered more than 4,000 hours of frontline response and attended over 1,100 patients, regularly committing between 20 and 30 hours each week.
Responding across Clitheroe and surrounding rural areas, John provides vital early care ahead of ambulance crews at life-threatening incidents such as cardiac arrests, strokes, breathing difficulties and serious trauma. He has been first on scene on numerous occasions, delivering life-saving CPR and defibrillation and directly helping to improve patient outcomes.
Alongside his clinical skills, John offers calm reassurance and support to patients and their families during highly distressing situations, helping to stabilise scenes until paramedics arrive. His dedication and professionalism have also been recognised more than ten times by NWAS through letters of commendation.
Well deserved, John!
