Health Care Without Harm works to transform health care worldwide so that it reduces its environmental footprint – they were inspired and impressed by our progress and achievements and have presented us with the following awards:
Gold – Greenhouse Gas Reduction (Energy)
Silver – Renewable Energy
Silver – Climate Resilience
Gold – Climate Leadership
This comes as we have been working on a number of initiatives to reduce our carbon footprint and support our Green Plan.
We’re continuing the roll out of electrical operational vehicles and their required infrastructure and became the first NHS organisation to use the carbon literacy ambulance toolkit training as a permanent feature on our training offer to staff.
We also continue to invest in energy saving technology. Some of the projects we are currently working on include the installation of additional LED lighting to make more of our sites 100% LED compliant as well as the installation of solar PV panels at our Cheshire and Merseyside area office, Estuary Point, which will generate renewable energy and reduce the costs of electricity at the site.
Assistant Director of Estates and Fleet Neil Maher said: “I am very pleased about receiving these awards in recognition of our commitment and excellent achievements to date in a broad range of activities and at all levels.
“It’s also a recognition of the passion and commitment shown by individuals and teams within the organisation. This isn’t the end of our journey, but the start and I look forward to continuing it.”
