World Kindness Day – Sharing our thank yous from patients

Posted 13th November 2025

For World Kindness Day, we're sharing some of the thank yous and feedback shared from our patients and families.

Today for World Kindness Day, we’re celebrating the power of kindness acknowledging some of the heartfelt messages we’ve received from patients and their families.

This year alone, nearly 1,000 thank you forms have been submitted through our website, in addition to the many letters and cards sent by mail. When people take the time to thank us, it truly means a lot.

Thank you to everyone who has shared their appreciation, your kindness inspires us every day. Below are some of our recent ones. Patient names have been changed for confidentiality.

Greater Manchester patient

“From the person answering the initial call to 999 to the response time our experience was positive.

“When the crew arrived, Jess and Brendan were calm and patient. They were respectful and light hearted which kept the patient calm and reassured. They did not rush and explained what action they were taking throughout.

“They are both a credit to the service and thoroughly decent human beings. Thank you so much.”

Lancashire patient

“Their professionalism, care and kindness at our home and when we arrived at Royal Blackburn Hospital was exemplary – particularly as they attempted to make Joyce comfortable in a very difficult hospital environment.

“Sadly, Joyce died in hospital on Sunday. This wasn’t the first time we had NWAS at our home – and always their care and support helped so much.”

Greater Manchester patient

“I called 999 as my granddaughter was going into a seizure. She is only 20 months and has had them previously. One the night before a man and lady from Rochdale ambulance station came, and my young grandson, who is two-and-a-half, was present at the time he went to the door with me to let them in.

“From the moment they arrived they included him with what they were doing to his sister to stop him being scared such excellent caring members of staff which made a stressful situation much easier.

“I just wanted to thank the people involved. Knowing that their job roles are very difficult at times it is much appreciated by everyone who needs their service. A big thank you and well done.”

Cheshire patient

“My little girl fell onto her neck on the trampoline. Rang for help, Eddie and Nickie were at the house very prompt. When they arrived they introduced themselves to Eleanor. They were both very friendly, calm, reassuring.

“Eddie and Nickie kept us informed at everything they were doing. Whilst in the ambulance Eddie kept talking to Eleanor as she was on a spinal board. When we got to Macclesfield Hospital they booked us in and then left.

“I just wanted to say a massive thank you and to tell them that she has had a CT scan and has muscle spasms. She was admitted to the children’s ward on Saturday night but allowed home Sunday. Thank you again. Lovely staff made the horrid experience less scary.”

Lancashire patient

I’d like to pass on my thanks to the crew who cared for me during an adrenal crisis. Addison’s disease / adrenal crisis is a rare condition and the crew who came to me were amazing. They were so fast and knew exactly what to do and what to look for, which was so reassuring as this isn’t always the case.

“The care I received was excellent and they communicated so well with me. I’m also extremely grateful for them doing all they could in the handover to the hospital staff in the attempt to get me the right care. They were amazing thank you so very much.

Lancashire patient

“I was in total agony with a kidney stone, breathing badly and pretty much uncontrollable. My wife was distraught.

“A first responder from I think Bolton-le-Sands turned up fast ahead of the ambulance crew and he was brilliant. He made my wife much more at ease and dealt with me superbly in my panicked and naked state!

“This was a special gentleman keeping totally calm and checking all my vitals and issuing clear instructions. I really would like to thank this person personally if possible.”

Cheshire patient

“Fast response and an ambulance arrived as well as HEMS. He had a stroke 10 yrs ago. I couldn’t wake him and his breathing was laboured as well as a seizure. I put him in recovery then paramedics arrived quite quickly! They worked swiftly and like clockwork absolutely amazing! Then HEMS talking and walking about their plans as they entered the house.

“My husband was put into a coma before being placed on the ambulance. One paramedic kept me up to date with what was happening. I really cannot fault their care. I did see one to thank them as I arrived at the hospital and he was coming out. With the amount of medics on the ambulance I had to follow.

“Honestly they were first class, worked so smoothly and efficiently together. My husband was in ICU for a while then on a ward. He is now home much better but still with a few problems. He had a water infection which had lead to sepsis.

“I can’t thank the staff enough we really are grateful worth their weight in gold. Thank you so much and for the person who took the call who kept me calm and told me what to do before help arrived.”
