A charity football match and family fun day, held on Saturday 2 May and organised by incredible supporter Zack Kerr, has raised more than £18,000 for North West Ambulance Charity.
Zack, who has cerebral palsy and uses an electric wheelchair, organised the event which took place in Accrington. It brought together families, local supporters and volunteers for a day of football, entertainment, market stalls, raffles and a mascot race.
It included two football matches, one involved colleagues and volunteers from North West Ambulance Service, against the Lancashire Police Force, and a second match featured local celebrities and community figures.
Roya Armstrong, Fundraising Manager for North West Ambulance Charity, said: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to Zack and everyone involved in making the fundraiser such an incredible success.”

Zack chose to support North West Ambulance Charity after paramedics helped save his mum’s life when she suffered a heart attack last year. Not only that, but Zack has been a long-time supporter of NWAS and is a member of our Patient and Public Panel, which gives members of the public a voice and the chance to be involved in discussions, projects, and more.
Zack visited one of our offices to meet Chief Executive Salman Desai and the Charity team, for an official cheque presentation and to announce the grand total, which came to an outstanding £18,251.00. Zack also shared his favourite moment from the day which was “the support from everyone.”
Some of the money raised for North West Ambulance Charity will be used to help save lives in the community, by funding community defibrillators which increase the chances of survival for someone having a cardiac arrest.
