As an ambulance care assistant, you will work on your own or as part of a crew planning your journey to make sure that patients get to their appointments and treatment on time.

You will support and care for a range of patients with different mobility, disabilities and conditions and it is your role to ensure they are safe and cared for on their journey for treatment or back to their home.

Excellent communication and caring skills are a must, as well as previous experience in patient care or customer support role. You must also hold a full and valid UK driving license and be physically fit so that you can undertake the manual handling of patients and equipment.

On-the-job training is provided – full time for three weeks; two weeks in a classroom environment and one-week driver training which will include a night drive assessment.

• Good general level of education to a minimum of level 1 literacy and numeracy standards.
• Current UK full driving license valid for at least 12 months with no more than three endorsement points (in exceptional circumstances a maximum of six points may be considered).

Personal attributes we look for

• Effective social skills gained from working with the public.
• Experience of knowledge of caring for people or volunteer work.
• St. John, Red Cross or other 1st Aid experience.
