Roads can be dangerous, so you must be aware of your surroundings and careful when crossing a road. It doesn’t matter if it’s a busy road with lots of cars or a quiet street, always be alert and pay attention.
When crossing the road, remember:
- Find a safe place to cross (look for a zebra or pelican crossing)
 - Stop before you get to the kerb
 - Look and listen all around for traffic
 - Let traffic pass before crossing
 - Go straight across the road
 - Never run as you might trip

Cycling
If you’re out on a bike ride, stay as safe as possible and remember:
- Always wear a helmet that fits well
 - Ride in the same direction as traffic
 - Avoid very busy roads
 - Obey all the traffic signals
 - Watch closely for cars that are turning, reversing or opening doors
 - Watch out for pedestrians
 - Follow the rules of the road
