Senior Workforce Development Manager Lisa Hill says, “Joining the ambulance service through this route is always incredibly popular and competitive. However, we are keen to ensure everyone has the best chance of making it through the application process, and filling out application forms can be a skill in itself. We also know people have many questions about the job and training.”
Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) play a vital role in our frontline response to 999 calls, working closely alongside paramedics to deliver high-quality emergency care.
As an EMT, you will be part of a two-person crew responding to a wide range of incidents, including medical emergencies, urgent hospital admissions, and inter-hospital transfers. Your main responsibility is to assist in delivering safe, effective pre-hospital clinical care under often challenging circumstances.
On scene, you’ll provide essential treatment and support to patients, offering both medical assistance and emotional reassurance to them and their families. Using your training, clinical judgment, and equipment, you’ll make quick decisions to ensure the best possible outcomes for those in need.
This role is both demanding and deeply rewarding. No two days are the same, and the opportunity to make a real difference in people’s lives is what makes being an EMT such a meaningful and fulfilling career.
